Week 2 2008 Lane Stadium

BYU gave Virginia Tech a run for their money. However, in the end, the Cougars just ran out of magic. Coming into one of the toughest stadiums in the nation, BYU began the fourth quarter with the lead. However, that lead would not hold, and the Cougars failed to come up big when it mattered. Despite coming out of halftime with a 10 point lead, the Hokies struggled out of the gate in the second half. BYU managed to put up 14 points to the Hokies 3, going into the 4th with a 21-20 lead. The Hokies opened the fourth with the ball, however gave it right back up on a 3 and out. The defense came up big, however, forcing the Cougars to give the ball back with over four minutes left. Tyrod Taylor struggled throughout most of the game, completing a measly 42% of his passes. However, with 3:14 left on the clock, Taylor hit Darren Evans for a 44 yard pass which showed off some poor tackling skills by the Cougars and some good moves by Evans. Max Hall would drive the Cougars deep into Hokie territory, but with 1:11 left on the clock, Brett Warren would cause and return a fumble for 88 yards, sealing the deal for the Hokies.
